Professor Sheena Iyengar

Professor Sheena S. Iyengar was the first South Asian woman to join Sloan's faculty where she was Assistant Professor from 1997-1998.

Iyengar grew up in New York City as a visually-impaired Indian American born to immigrant parents. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School and a B.A. in Psychology. She earned her PhD in Social Psychology from Stanford University, where she wrote her dissertation on “Choice and its Discontents.” She is currently the S.T. Lee Professor of Business at Columbia Business School. Iyengar's  research focuses on the many facets of decision making. She has received numerous awards, authored over 30 journal articles, and published two books, one of which was shortlisted for the 2010 Financial Times and Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award.
